Your Hearing, Health and Dementia

Dementia Action Week is here and we are raising awareness about the importance of staying switched on with your hearing and health.

It is important to recognise the signs of a hearing loss because acting on hearing loss early could benefit you in the long run. Look for the signs, are you asking or being asked to repeat phrases? This may highlight a hearing problem. Hearing loss can cause people to become socially isolated or depressed and several studies have now suggested a link between hearing loss and dementia.

So, be alert to even slight differences, as latest research shows that hearing loss can increase someone’s chance of developing dementia by 2-5 times if left undiagnosed.
