FAQs about hearing aids
-
A hearing aid is a small medical device designed to improve your hearing ability by amplifying sounds. It helps people with hearing loss to hear better and maintain an active and social life. Today’s hearing aids have become more technologically advanced and smaller than ever before.
-
There are many different types of hearing aids available. The most common are placed behind the ear, but there are also aids that fit inside your ear canal. And there’s also a wide selection of hearing aid brands and models to choose from.
Hearing aids are not one-size-fits-all solutions. One that’s right for you will depend on several factors, such your lifestyle. When you visit your local Hidden Hearing clinic, we can help you to find the hearing aid that’s best for you.
-
If you think that you might have a hearing loss, you can book a hearing test with one of our hearing care experts. They’ll be able to tell you whether hearing aids could be right for you.
Take a look at the most common signs of hearing loss to see if you can recognise any of them. We recommend seeking treatment as soon as hearing loss is detected since untreated hearing loss can have a negative impact on your life.
-
Hearing aid prices range widely depending on the model, the style and the features. We have a range of devices to suit most budgets.
-
We have a 60-day money-back guarantee. Taking the hearing aids home and wearing them as a part of your everyday routine will help you see whether they're the right hearing aids for you. And if you're not happy with them after 60 days, we'll give you a full refund.
-
The best hearing aid for one person might not be the best hearing aid for another. There are several factors to consider when choosing the best hearing aid for you. Things like your hearing loss level and lifestyle preferences. We'll help you choose a model that's personalised to you.
When you visit your local Hidden Hearing clinic for an in-depth hearing check, one of our hearing care experts will identify your hearing ability level and recommend the best treatment option for your hearing needs.
You can also take a look at our guide to finding the best hearing aid to give you an idea of which hearing aids might be a good fit for you.

About 6 in 10 people experience tinnitus relief from wearing hearing aids, but the effectiveness varies from person to person. If your hearing is within normal limits and you experience hearing loss, you can also try a hearing aid that only includes a tinnitus sound generator (and no sound amplification). You can work together with your hearing care professional to find what works for you and your tinnitus.
-
In most cases, no. In rare cases, someone with vertigo may experience that hearing aids cause pressure changes in the inner ear which affect their balance even more (vertigo is a condition where imbalances in the pressure in the inner ear cause dizziness and balance issues). But such cases are rare. Talk to your hearing care expert to learn how to adapt to your hearing aids.
-
Since hearing loss develops gradually, it’s not always easy to know when to seek help. Knowing what the signs of hearing loss are can help you recognise the problem, and receiving a free hearing test from a hearing care expert can help you decide whether you’ll need hearing aids. Remember, annual hearing tests are just as important as visiting the dentist or optician.
-
We recommend that people with hearing loss get their hearing tested roughly on an annual basis – or sooner if they feel that there have been any changes in their hearing. Hearing aids themselves should be replaced about every three years.
-
We're the largest hearing care specialists, and with 50+ years' hearing care experience, you can be sure that you'll be in expert hands.
-
The average price of hearing aids varies widely. It depends on the model, the additional features you want and also what kind of hearing loss you have, so we can’t give you an exact price. That's why we recommend coming to see us first. Once we've been through your hearing test results together, we'll then be able to talk about what hearing aid is right for you and your budget.

The latest research states that modifying 14 risk factors from childhood to late life could delay or prevent 45% of dementia cases. Of these 14 risk factors, an untreated hearing loss in mid-life is one of the biggest.
