Receiver In The Ear (RITE)
Receiver in the ear hearing aids are the latest type of hearing aid to be developed. Their two piece design allows them to be worn comfortably behind or on top of the ear whilst a very thin and discreet wire is connected to a tiny receiver (loudspeaker) in the ear canal. Many manufacturers have also changed the way that these instruments look by using unique shapes and colours.
Placing the receiver or loudspeaker in the ear gives several advantages;
- The receiver is held in place by a small, soft silicon dome. These domes are not only very comfortable, they have holes in them leaving the ear canal wide open adding to sound quality and comfort
- Where your hearing loss allows the 'open fitting' (described above), this can help with using the telephone and allow you to use what is left of your natural hearing to listen for other sounds
- The sound generated by the receiver is closer to the eardrum than in a BTE or ITE - this means that less volume is required for your hearing loss giving greater clarity and increasing battery life
Following a hearing consultation, your Hearing Aid Dispenser will advise you whether one of our RITE hearing aids is suitable for you. Advances in receiver technolgy have meant that even those with severe hearing losses can benefit from these incredible 'micro devices'. The severity of your hearing loss will determine whether the aid can be prescribed with an open dome or whether a custom made tip should be used.
Clients supplied with RITE products are looking for the latest designs with the most up to date and user friendly technologies inside.
