Hidden Hearing is a credit to the profession"
Mr Anderson, Weston-Super-Mare
The deaf and hard of hearing communities voice has been heard and developments are in progress making the cinema more accessible for all. Cinema access for the deaf and hard of hearing recently hit the press when Sara Cox, Radio1 DJ, tweeted her thoughts on the film 'Bridesmaids' she was watching which was being shown with subtitles.
According to a BBC news report today, Sony have developed glasses, which when worn display subtitles in real time. A great step forward but is this good enough? The issue is the vast majority of cinema goers do not require any ‘additional requirements’ and the cinema groups not wanting to impact on their ‘enjoyment’ of the film by displaying subtitles.
If you are experiencing problems fully enjoying shows or plays due to hearing issues, then speak to one of our Hearing Aid Dispensers today. We can also help hearing aid users who may be experiencing the same issues, as programmable hearing aids with additional programmes can be adjusted to specific environments such as the cinema or theatre.
